-30%Kumquat Tree
Citrus japonica
Kumquats are the citrus you eat whole, skin and all. The small, oval, golden-orange fruit have a sweet, tender peel and a tangy, juicy centre, so each bite is a burst of sweet and sour. Enjoy them fresh, candied, in marmalades, sliced into salads or muddled into drinks. The tree is naturally compact and bushy, with small glossy leaves and fragrant white blossoms, and it looks beautiful in a pot laden with fruit. It is also among the most cold-tolerant citrus, so it suits many Mexican regions. Grown on our farms in Yucatán and Chiapas and shipped via DHL.

How to Care for It
Grow in full sun in well-drained soil or citrus potting mix. Water deeply when the top layer is dry; do not let pots sit in water. Feed with citrus fertiliser every two months from spring to autumn. Kumquat handles moderate frost better than most citrus once established, though young plants need protection. Prune lightly after fruiting to keep a neat, rounded shape.
Grow fruit most people have never tasted. Our exotic fruit trees, from Monthong durian and Emperor lychee to jaboticaba, achachairú and red finger lime, are raised on our farms in Yucatán and Chiapas and shipped by DHL across Mexico. Most love heat and humidity; several do beautifully in large pots.
