-20%Heliconia Golden Torch Plant
Heliconia psittacorum × H. spathocircinata 'Golden Torch'
'Golden Torch' lights up the garden with upright spikes of glossy, golden-yellow bracts that look like small flames held above the leaves. It is a vigorous hybrid of the parrot's beak heliconia, flowering freely and for long periods, and a favourite with florists because the stems are a manageable size and last well in arrangements. The clumps stay medium-sized, so it fits beds, borders and large pots, and its sunny colour pairs beautifully with red heliconias and gingers. Available as a rhizome, potted young plant or flowering-size clump.

About the Heliconia Golden Torch Plant

Available as a rhizome, potted young plant or flowering-size clump.
How to Care for It
To plant a rhizome, lay it horizontally 5–10 cm deep in rich, well-drained soil with any shoot pointing up, water well and keep the soil just moist until new growth appears. It flowers best in full sun to light shade with regular water. Feed monthly in the rainy season with a balanced fertiliser, mulch generously and cut each stem at the base after its flowers fade.
Nothing says tropical like a heliconia in flower. Choose from the ten most popular varieties, including hanging lobster claw, Lady Di, Golden Torch, wagneriana and Sexy Pink. Start from a rhizome, or buy a potted young plant or a flowering-size clump.
