Fremont Mandarin Tree

Citrus reticulata 'Fremont'

Sale price: $220 MXN Regular price: $260 Save $40 (15% off)

Fremont is a Clementine × Ponkan mandarin bred in California, admired for its deep red-orange rind and rich, sweet, full-flavoured flesh. The fruit is medium-sized and fairly easy to peel, with some seeds, and it colours beautifully in the cooler months, ripening from late autumn through winter. The tree is upright, compact and can be very productive; like many mandarins it may crop heavily one year and lighter the next, which some fruit thinning helps to balance. A good choice for subtropical and highland gardens and for large containers.

How to Care for It

Plant in full sun in well-drained soil and water deeply when the topsoil dries. Feed with a citrus fertiliser with micronutrients three times a year. If the tree sets a very heavy crop, thin the young fruit by about a third to keep fruit size up and reduce alternate bearing. Prune lightly after harvest to open the canopy and remove dead wood. Mulch the root zone, keeping it away from the trunk.

Fresh limes for every taco and juice from your own tree. Persian, Colima and criollo limes, Valencia and navel oranges, five mandarins, grapefruit, pomelo and Yucatán's own lima de chiche, grown on our farms and shipped by DHL to most of Mexico.
