Fortune Mandarin Tree (Mandarina Fortuna)

Citrus reticulata 'Fortune'

Sale price: $290 MXN Regular price: $325 Save $35 (11% off)

Fortune is a late-season mandarin from a Clementine × Dancy cross, valued for ripening when most other mandarins are long gone. The medium-sized, reddish-orange fruit is juicy, with a bright, sweet-tart flavour that mellows the longer it hangs, and it holds on the tree well into spring. Because it needs plenty of heat to sweeten fully, it is a particularly good mandarin for warm Mexican lowlands. The tree is vigorous, upright and productive, a great way to keep fresh mandarins in the kitchen after the winter rush.

  • Late season; fruit holds into spring
  • Juicy, sweet-tart reddish-orange fruit
  • Clementine × Dancy parentage
  • Loves heat; ideal for warm lowlands

How to Care for It

Plant in full sun in deep, well-drained soil; citrus hates waterlogged roots, so raise the bed on heavy clay. Water deeply once or twice a week in the dry season and let the topsoil dry between waterings. Feed with a citrus fertiliser with micronutrients (zinc, iron, magnesium) three times a year, mulch without touching the trunk, and remove shoots that sprout below the main branches.

Fresh limes for every taco and juice from your own tree. Persian, Colima and criollo limes, Valencia and navel oranges, five mandarins, grapefruit, pomelo and Yucatán's own lima de chiche, grown on our farms and shipped by DHL to most of Mexico.
