Pink Grapefruit Tree (Toronja Rosa)

Citrus × paradisi (pink-fleshed)

Sale price: $225 MXN Regular price: $325 Save $100 (31% off)

Pink grapefruit is the balanced classic: large, juicy fruit with soft pink flesh and a refreshing sweet-tart flavour that has just a hint of the bitterness grapefruit lovers enjoy. Halve it for breakfast, squeeze it for a paloma or juice, or add segments to salads and seafood. The tree is vigorous and generous, holding clusters of heavy fruit among large, glossy leaves, and its spring blossom is wonderfully fragrant. Like all grapefruit, it sweetens best in hot climates, from the coastal lowlands to the warm, dry north of Mexico.

How to Care for It

Plant in full sun in deep, well-drained soil; citrus hates waterlogged roots, so raise the bed on heavy clay. Water deeply once or twice a week in the dry season and let the topsoil dry between waterings. Feed with a citrus fertiliser with micronutrients (zinc, iron, magnesium) three times a year, mulch without touching the trunk, and remove shoots that sprout below the main branches.

Fresh limes for every taco and juice from your own tree. Persian, Colima and criollo limes, Valencia and navel oranges, five mandarins, grapefruit, pomelo and Yucatán's own lima de chiche, grown on our farms and shipped by DHL to most of Mexico.
